With five neighborhood offices, offices in Children's Healthcare of Atlanta hospitals, a medical-legal partnership at Grady, courthouse partnerships in four counties, self-help clinics, and community education, Legal Aid lawyers and volunteers reach tens of thousands of people every year.

Housing

Safe, decent, affordable housing is fundamental. We help people keep the homes they have, increase access to affordable housing, and improve living conditions — eviction defense, foreclosure, and the Home Defense Program.

Consumer & Economic Stability

Consumers often can't navigate the laws meant to protect them. We fight predatory debt collectors, unfair and illegal collection practices, garnishment, and scams that threaten our clients' economic stability.

Family

Family stability is at the heart of our practice. Our lawyers and volunteers legalize family relationships, secure custody and guardianship, and protect families in crisis.

Domestic Violence

We help survivors of domestic violence and their children find safety — protective orders, custody, and the legal steps that let families rebuild free from abuse.

Health & Disability Rights

Through medical-legal partnerships at Grady and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, we secure benefits, special education, and the rights of people with disabilities to live in their communities.

Kinship Care

When grandparents and relatives step up to raise children, we help them secure the legal authority — guardianship, adoption, and stable homes for children during a crisis.

Senior Citizens

The Senior Citizens Law Project protects older adults' independence, income, housing, and dignity against fraud, abuse, and benefit denials.

Veterans

The Veterans Law Project helps Georgia veterans access the benefits they've earned and resolve the civil legal problems that stand between them and stability.
